Marty J. Shearer, MAI spent the beginning of his career with Schueler, McKown & Keenan in Seattle before relocating to Sacramento to join Palmer, Groth & Pietka (PGP) in 1998. In 2005, Marty left for a brief 2-year stint with Cushman & Wakefield as Associate Director, earning a Service Excellence Award in 2006. Marty was persuaded to rejoin PGP in late 2007 as co-manager of the Sacramento office and was awarded the MAI designation in early 2009.
The firm was sold to FirstService and merged with Colliers International between 2008 and 2012. Marty was promoted to Senior Valuation Services Director of the newly created firm, Colliers International Valuation & Advisory Services (CIVAS), and managed a team of up to 6 people.
In an effort to focus and improve relations with local and regional banks, offering truly independent and unbiased valuations, Marty left CIVAS in late 2016, establishing the Sacramento Office for Pacific Coast Valuation Group. In his 20+ years in the appraisal industry, Marty has established himself as a leading expert for valuation of industrial properties within the Northern CA and Northern NV marketplaces, yet also performs valuation services for office, retail, mixed-use, multi-family, and self-storage assets. Marty is experienced with ARGUS for DCF analyses and performs complex real estate appraisal assignments for a broad range of uses including lending, property tax appeal, estate planning, arbitration, divorce cases and litigation. Marty has served as an expert witness in Federal Bankruptcy Court and Sacramento County, and provided presentations for tax appeal in Yolo and Placer Counties.
